It sounds simple and the rewards can be enormous from “thinking outside the box” however, this is a practice that many fail to grasp and equally fear.
The fear of the unknown and the consequential failure to "think outside the box"– is a widespread epidemic throughtout the European business community – it can stifle growth and in times of crisis can lead to the downfall of a business empire or even a country.
Many of our great “thinkers and doers” have been people who can “think outside the box”. They are often loners and often castigated for their actions however they got the job done!
In the photograph above, some great thinking outside of the box has taken place in a country not normally associated with doing so - Japan. Here someone has grown square mellons in boxes to improve packing density!
We wish to try to break down the fear within management that letting staff think outside the box is not such a bad thing. However, this is providing the management are equipped to understand the implications and boundaries of this outward thinking.
